Spin The Black Circle

Jake here. Earlier this year I was able to resurrect my old record player from high school and get it running again. Took nothing more than a new needle found on e-bay and a 9 volt battery for the phonographic preamp. When I listened to CDs back in high school it was tough to make the argument that vinyl sounded any better but with the amount of low quality MP3s today one could easily make the claim that vinyl sounds quite a bit better. Either way, it's nostalgic and fun. I try to frequent Half Price Books for their sweet collection of records but am able to pick up quite a bit of newer stuff at Silver Platter and shows when I'm able to get to one. Here's what I've been spinning recently. I picked up The Fruit Bats earlier today.

wow after 15 years I now understand what "spin the black circle" means. I feel a little sheepish :)

That's ok Jana. Just as long as you finally picked it up.

I honestly don't think I've ever listened to a record player...My parents still have their old one, but I don't think they have any records to go with it. I guess you'll have to let me listen sometime, so I can see what sound I'm missing out on. lol By the way, here is my post, so you have our blog address: eandkstory.blogspot.com
