SPED 4 LIFE

I officially had my first week of work. I got a job teaching special education preschool. Most of my students are diagnosed with Autism and are in an integrated class setting. My school is like 10 min. away from our house so it is a nice short drive. I only work 3.5 days a week and then get to substitute in the district on Fridays. I love my schedule and my coworkers. The kids are super fun and pretty funny. I am sure I will have stories to tell. The first few days were a little rocky not knowing my responsibilities, no work space and being told multiple times a day by loving preschool teachers that I need to dress warmer. Here is a direct quote (seriously said with nice intentions), "You should probably get more sensible shoes and wear socks." Times this quote by 15 and that is what I have been getting. It is just a care taking quality that I hope I do not pick up. However, they are right, I do need warm clothes. I have been freezing my tail off. Anyway, so far so good.

*The kids are still learning my name and one accidently calls me Mrs. Amburger.

You must be wearing flats. So does this job mean you'll be staying south for a while? We hope you'll still be there when we make our own move south.
