Jake here. The Canadian expo is over and I thought I would jump into my iTunes library to see what I've listened to most. The results are 33 1/3% surprising.
1. Mad World - Gary Jules. This is a cover of a Tears For Fears song and it's pretty good I guess, but I can't explain why it's number one. Gary didn't get the pic because he's so ugly.
2. So Says I - The Shins. This one makes more sense and I'm sure everyone would rather see these guys than Gary and his stupid hat.
3. Why Can't I touch It? - Buzzcocks. I'm proud this one made the list.

Wolf Parade

Jake here. Day 3 of the Canadian band extravaganza. These guys also rock but may be more of an acquired taste. I love them and I love Sub Pop.
Listen to My Father's Son and Shine A Light.

Feist
Feist is a former member of Broken Social Scene and I love her. She has just recently received more publicity from being on the Apple ads. Her music makes me happy and puts me in such a good mood every time I listen to her. This rendition on David Letterman is amazing and I love the arm bands the choir in the back are wearing. You should check out the original 1234 video on You Tube. The dancing is awkward, her uni-suit is amazing and it was one continuous shot.
I Love Jim Halpert
First things first, how hot does The Office cast look? Finally Pam is doing herself some justice.
I can't wait for this show to start either. Jake showed me some amazing clips of their summer vacations. I linked to the clips so you all could enjoy. Kelli's clip is by far my favorite. Finally Jim and Pam might have a chance this season. I hope things actually work out and then I don't because what would the drama romance be about. Maybe Angela and Dwight? That could be revolting and highly intriguing.
*I think it is funny that Jake and I love these t.v. shows yet we don't even have a t.v..
Broken Social Scene

Jake here. I think I may turn this Canadian band thing into a multi-day extravaganza. Next on the list is Broken Social Scene beating Acade Fire's 7 member line-up coming in at 12 in the photo above and at one point consisting of 19. You know what I hate about Canada? The beer and the lakes.
Listen to Stars And Sons and Cause = Time

Arcade Fire

Jake here. Check it, I don't know a whole lot about this band other than I've been listening to them for about a year and a half now and I thought I would share the love. They're from Canada, Toronto I believe, they've got a unique sound and they rock. I saw them perform this song with David Bowie and it was amazing.

Gizoogle Fo Sho

Since Jake works at Simply Mac he is always coming home with awesome nerdery skills and funny websites. This is by far one of my favorite geek tricks he has brought home. This site is called Gizoogle and it translates web pages into Ebonics or "Snoop Phonics". Here is a sample taken from a recent article from CNN.com about O.J. Simpson and his Las Vegas scandals:
Original Passage:
"But his plan, plotted against the backdrop of a quickie Las Vegas wedding, was suddenly going bad.
There was a gunman impersonating a police officer. Men were screaming at each other. And the prized possessions were being stuffed into pillow cases and cardboard boxes."
Translated Passage:
"But his pliznan, plotted against tha backdrop of a quickie Las Vegas wedd'n, was suddenly going bad.
There was a gunman impersonat'n a po-po gangsta. Men were scream'n at each otha hittin that booty. And tha prized possessions wizzy being shiznited into pillow cases n cardboard boxes."
You can upload any site you want. It is pretty funny. Warning: It may contain some offensive language so be careful.
Hot Cocoa
Fall is here and temperature is dropping. I am from California but have lived in Hawaii the last 4 years. Jake has lived in Hawaii the last 5 years, so the weather change is going to be difficult. Although tropical weather is nice I have missed wearing sweaters and sipping hot cocoa. I called my mother in law and found out her amazing hot chocolate recipe and want to share it with you all. It is very simple and delicious.
Home Made Hot Chocolate Recipe
This recipe makes a perfect 2 mugs full of hot cocoa.
Chocolate Syrup:
Place the following ingredients in a sauce pan/any regular pot.
1 tablespoon cocoa
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup water (should look like a dark thick syrup)
Let Mixture get bubbly then stir in 2 1/2 cups of milk.
This recipe may vary depending on how sweet, chocolaty or how many people are drinking.

We Like Dollar Movies
Jake and I saw this last Saturday at the University Mall Dollar Theater. Jake and I try to only see dollar movies unless we are literally dying to see a movie and can't wait a month 1/2 to make it to the dollar theaters. The dollar theater at the University Mall just re-opened last week and we have already been there 4 times. The owner and Jake have become almost friends because he owns a Mac and Jake helps him out through work. He gave Jake 10 free passes to use and also to hand out. He has really cleaned up the place and here is our favorite part, he has dedicated one screen to independent films.
I have mixed feelings about this film starring Keri Russel. Keri Russel is very cute in the movie and I hope when I am pregnant I look like her. I loved aspects of this movie involving different pie recipes to fit her life situation at that moment. For example, “I-Don’t-Want-Earl’s-Baby Pie”; “I-Hate-My-Husband Pie”; and “Falling-in-Love Pie”. I disliked that she was 8 months prego having an affair with her doctor who had a really cute red head wife. The movie ends well. I am not going to tell because you should see it.

EXPIRATION DATE
Jake here. This is a really cool indy film starring what every indy film should star; an Indian. His grandfather and father were both hit by milk trucks on their 25th birthdays. As his own approaches he prepares for the worst. It's a wonderfully done dark comedy which never gets too dry and leaves you bitter-sweetly refreshed. It was actually a special screening and afterward the filmmaker came in and held a Q & A. He spoke about the process of making the film and what he wanted to accomplish with it. Very cool, take the fam.

HAIRSPRAY
Loved it. This movie was very funny, so fun and very cute. I was laughing through the whole movie and wishing I was a back up dancer. I also loved the costume design and the adorable dresses. If you loved Grease, Now And Then or the show Ugly Betty you would love this movie. I highly recommend it. I also heard that the main girl (who is pictured above) was just some random who won the contest for this role. I am not sure if this is fact or fiction. I will let ya know and blog about it later. A highlight from this movie was a romance dance ballad between John Travolta (who played the mother) and Christopher Walken (the father). It was hilarious.
