Jake and I saw this last Saturday at the University Mall Dollar Theater. Jake and I try to only see dollar movies unless we are literally dying to see a movie and can't wait a month 1/2 to make it to the dollar theaters. The dollar theater at the University Mall just re-opened last week and we have already been there 4 times. The owner and Jake have become almost friends because he owns a Mac and Jake helps him out through work. He gave Jake 10 free passes to use and also to hand out. He has really cleaned up the place and here is our favorite part, he has dedicated one screen to independent films.
WAITRESS
I have mixed feelings about this film starring Keri Russel. Keri Russel is very cute in the movie and I hope when I am pregnant I look like her. I loved aspects of this movie involving different pie recipes to fit her life situation at that moment. For example, “I-Don’t-Want-Earl’s-Baby Pie”; “I-Hate-My-Husband Pie”; and “Falling-in-Love Pie”. I disliked that she was 8 months prego having an affair with her doctor who had a really cute red head wife. The movie ends well. I am not going to tell because you should see it.

EXPIRATION DATE
Jake here. This is a really cool indy film starring what every indy film should star; an Indian. His grandfather and father were both hit by milk trucks on their 25th birthdays. As his own approaches he prepares for the worst. It's a wonderfully done dark comedy which never gets too dry and leaves you bitter-sweetly refreshed. It was actually a special screening and afterward the filmmaker came in and held a Q & A. He spoke about the process of making the film and what he wanted to accomplish with it. Very cool, take the fam.

HAIRSPRAY
Loved it. This movie was very funny, so fun and very cute. I was laughing through the whole movie and wishing I was a back up dancer. I also loved the costume design and the adorable dresses. If you loved Grease, Now And Then or the show Ugly Betty you would love this movie. I highly recommend it. I also heard that the main girl (who is pictured above) was just some random who won the contest for this role. I am not sure if this is fact or fiction. I will let ya know and blog about it later. A highlight from this movie was a romance dance ballad between John Travolta (who played the mother) and Christopher Walken (the father). It was hilarious.
