Artsy Farsty Pays Off

Living in Sonoma has it's ups and downs. It is SO small and everyone knows everyone. We also have to drive 45min to get to a mall, 30 min to Target, and 1hr to get to the city. However, the negatives can also be looked at as positives. Our little community has so many treasures to offer. The treasure I have been appreciating lately is Sonoma Culture. I love the food here, I love the all the festivals we have, the live music, and there is truly beauty all around. Sonoma loves to celebrate the arts. Anyway, getting to the point, I have been wanting to see Juno for ever so long and anticipating the release. My artsy community has paid off and they did a free sneak preview last weekend. Juno only premiered in New York, LA and little Sonoma. My mom has heard me talk about Juno and was reading in The Sonoma Index Tribune and found that they were having a free screening for Juno. I wish we could have paid for the movie because I would have loved to give all the support possible. Juno was beautiful, witty, fun, funny, happy, real, and gave me a sense of hope for humanity. It was a beautiful production to show the reality of life. It was sad in a sense but is was sensationally blissful with the message that was sent. Sonoma has a small film festival that continues to grow each year and the main guru who heads the festival welcomed us all to the screening and shared a message about independent films. I felt his passion as he explained that independent films are really about one thing, HOPE. When I thought about some of my favorite indie films it was so true. Hope for humanity, happiness and life. I could feel his passion and it was so cool to think about people trying to find happiness in life. I thought of I Am David (one of my favorites. If you have not taken part, do so and quickly. You will forever be grateful for your life and family), Lars And The Real Girl (could this movie be any stranger and have a stronger message of how we are designed to love on another?), My Big Fat Greek Wedding (more on the comedic side but still holds true), Expiration date (I blogged about it in the summer but we got to be there for a Q&A with the director and hope was his motivation as well. It was a dark comedy but very well done), and The Waitress (Jake did not like this movie but I did. It reached out to all humans who were in an abusive situation and gave hope for a better life). Anyway, for my longest post I am done but have to say support Juno, go see it,you will smile, laugh, cry and love this film. Have hope in the world and humanity. Support independent films.

yeah, i'd really like to see this movie. we were going to see lars and the real girl when ryan was down from seattle - but never made it. that's really cool that you got to be part of the free sneak preview weekend!

i'm still perplexed that portland doesn't have any sort of indie theater or dollar theater. one would think....

see you in several days!

Well, AJ, you've convinced me. I've been wanting to see this movie, but Shane and I haven't had the chance to go out for a while, hopefully we can over the Christmas break. This show does look adorable, with just the right type of funny that I love. :)

Can I just say that was the best movie ever!!! It was worth every penny that we paid. I loved Juno, she was an awesome character. PS I live in Sacramento and I don't know how far that is from Sanoma, but we should hang out
