Radiohead tells the RIAA to stick it.

Jake here. I mentioned Radiohead's new album nine days ago and downloaded it this morning. This marks a major turning point in the music industry. The band only announced completion of their new album nine days ago and this morning I listened to it. To download it just head to inrainbows.com and name your own price (in pounds). All revenue goes to the band and there is no label to deal with. This is major because Radiohead is one of the most influential bands of the last twenty years and they released, hands down, the best album of the 90s. Such an important band could easily spark a revolution. Nothing would make me happier than all of my favorite bands forgoing a label and distributing their music via their own website and taking in all of the revenue. It's cool that Radiohead let me name my own price but i wouldn't even expect other bands to do the same. I just don't want money going to the record labels. If you don't understand why I don't want to support the record industry, turn on the radio.
